The PriMed physician referral program provides members and their
families with savings on physician services through an extensive nationwide
network of general practitioners and specialists. Due to the unique network
design it boasts one of the largest overall networks available in the
discount market. The program provides savings to members who do not have
health insurance or to members who require services that may not be covered
by their health insurance. Each physician or medical group in this network
have been fully credentialed and agreed to accept a reduced fee for services
rendered to PriMed members. Fees are established according to usual and
customary physician fees by region. Average savings are 21%.
Participating physician offices have access to eligibility verification
and repricing information via a toll free telephone number. Using a touch-tone
telephone, the physician
or staff member keys in the member identification number, the provider
identification number, the appropriate CPT code and the physician's usual
fee for that service. The PriMed fee will be immediately reported to the
caller. The PriMed member will pay that reduced fee at the time of service.
Participating physicians have an agreement that they will not bill the
member for the difference between their usual fee and the reduced fee.
